According to a Breton legend, God flooded the City of Ys as a punishment for its sinful behaviour. Princess Dahut, King Gradlon’s daughter, was transformed into a mermaid and continues to haunt the Brittany coast. The Video retells the story of Ys from Dahut’s perspective: her rereading of the Christian-masculine dominated legend is presented alongside hand-painted porcelain figurines of the protagonists of the (transformed) legend.
The video installation is a production of Art4Context and Bettina Hutschek. Thanks to the porcelain manufacturer HENRIOT QUIMPER for the generous support.

The video installation is a production of Art4Context, produced during the artist residency 2012-2013 at Pôle Max Jacob/ Quimper.
